With the first piece acquired in 2019, the BAP collection encompasses an international array of postwar and contemporary art making approaches and practices, with areas of focus including works of mid-century abstraction by artists from New York and Quebec, and contemporary Canadian painting and photo-based works.
More than 40 artists are currently represented in the collection, including Jean-Paul Riopelle, Betty Parsons, Joan Semmel, Joan Mitchell, Wanda Koop, Sara Cwynar, Kim Dorland, Gillian Wearing, and Farah Al Qasimi.
